But before you flip that switch, ask yourself—what’s the frequency of your intention? I’ve been saying that for years, from my early PARAHOLICS videos to these essays on Obscura Vox. It’s not a slogan—it’s the spine of this work. Intention carries weight: it can shift atmosphere, alter energy, even touch the physical.

A text of Tibetan medicine, within the Buddhist tradition, gives a recipe for a healing remedy that always calls for a white bone-handled knife. But here’s the kicker: the text specifies that the knife should have been used to murder at least thirteen people. If you can’t find such a relic, it says, then use one that has murdered seven. And if even that’s impossible? Then take an ordinary white bone-handled knife—and, this is the crucial step—tell it it has murdered thirteen people (Strange Familiars).

The point isn’t about the knife’s bloody history; it’s about what the practitioner invests into it. The ritual is training the healer to understand that intention is itself an ingredient, as vital to the remedy as the herbs or minerals being mixed. Across traditions, this lesson holds: what matters is not the tool, but the will and focus of the one wielding it.

Visualization is how intention learns to walk. It takes the raw spark of will and clothes it in form, giving the unseen something clear to answer.

This same truth carries directly into ITC. Whether you lean toward modern physics that whispers all reality is consciousness (Campbell), or you stand with traditions that speak of angels, faeries, and the dead—the bridge is unchanged. You are using the mind to meet the Other.

What We Mean by “Transdimensional Dialogue”

At Obscura Vox, we use that phrase deliberately. We’re not chasing clichés—ghosts in chains, horned demons, campfire archetypes. Transdimensional dialogue is interaction with intelligences of unknown origin—some may be the departed, some may be consciousness fields, some something else entirely. Unlike traditional ghost-hunting, which often centers on contacting the deceased, transdimensional dialogue embraces a broader spectrum of consciousness, including entities or energies that may not fit conventional definitions of “ghosts.” What matters is that dialogue happens across the veil of perception, where intention and frequency set the terms.

Our touchstones are many: Buddhist mindfulness (Feldman), Hindu energetics (Judith), Christian mysticism (Gibbs), Jewish Kabbalah, Sufi prayer. Not as dogma, but as tested technologies of the sacred. And at the root of them all sits intention—clear, focused, ethical. Grounding rituals that once steadied monks and mystics are just as vital when the instrument in your hand is a radio scanner or a digital feedback loop.

The Bridge Between Consciousness and Signal

Every ITC operator learns this, sooner or later: your mind is the first receiver. The hardware—circuitry, antennas, filters—only extends what you’ve already tuned in your head and heart. Visualization isn’t make-believe. It’s calibration. Neuroscience even shows us that the brain fires as if the vision were real, engaging the same areas of the visual cortex during imagination as during sight (Kosslyn et al.). Mystical traditions tell us the same thing with different words: where the imagination goes, energy follows.

Enter a derelict hospital with only fear in your chest, and you’ll meet the Trickster. He’s there in every culture—Coyote, Loki, Anansi—feeding on attention, imitating truth, twisting signal into echo (Hansen). You’ll hear him in ITC as nonsense loops, mocking laughter, voices that parrot back your questions.

But begin with visualization—a clear channel, a portal of light, a deliberate invitation to benevolence—and the quality shifts. When a voice answers, it lands with coherence instead of hollowness. Trickster chatter slides away. That’s because the phenomena of the unseen always reflects what we bring to it. Imagination shapes that reflection: come with fear, and fear answers; come with clarity, and clarity responds. Visualization turns intention into a pattern the unseen cannot help but echo back (Jackson, “Echoes Beyond the Veil”).

Sound as a Foundation for Visualization

Visualization doesn’t always begin with imagery. Sometimes it begins with vibration. Sound creates a vibrational foundation that amplifies visualization, turning your ITC device into a resonant bridge for dialogue. Long before spirit boxes, practitioners tuned consciousness with rhythm and chant—Hindus with Om, Buddhists with bowls and bells, Christians with psalms, Sufis with whirling song. These sounds don’t just fill a room; they align the body with a rhythm larger than itself, coaxing the mind into liminal states where unseen dialogue is easier to touch (Feldman; Judith).

When you immerse yourself in resonant tones—whether the low hum of a singing bowl or a drone at 432 Hz or 528 Hz—the sound itself becomes the scaffolding for visualization. The frequency sets your nervous system into steadiness, and your imagination builds images on that foundation. Close your eyes, let the vibration move through you, and then picture your ITC device pulsing with the same glow—no longer just a machine, but a vessel resonating with presence.

In this way, frequencies support the soundscapes that prepare intention for ITC contact. You’re not waiting for dialogue to begin—you’re already inhabiting the state that invites it.

Grounding and Protection

But resonance without grounding is like lightning without a rod—it’s powerful but risks scattering your focus or leaving you vulnerable. Haunted sites especially—old hospitals, prisons, battlegrounds—carry layers of trauma. Without grounding, you risk walking away foggy, drained, or worse: tangled with something that thrives on fear.

Grounding is about anchoring yourself in stability before you open the channel. Here’s a practice: sit or stand, and imagine roots from your feet sinking deep, like the Bodhi tree rooting the Buddha (Bhikkhu Bodhi) or prana coursing through earth (Judith). Feel yourself connected, steady. Then picture a sphere of light wrapping around you—not a fragile bubble, but a living shield. Christian mystics call this grace (Gibbs). Hindus call upon deities like Ganesha to guard thresholds. Speak aloud: I connect only with intelligences of wisdom and benevolence.

I’ve even carried this into fieldwork. Driving in daylight to Proctor Cemetery, I pictured Henry Dixon in the passenger seat beside me—not a ghost, but a visualization of presence, a way of aligning my focus before the work began. By the time I entered the cemetery, something uncanny unfolded: without ever visiting before, consulting a map, or asking for directions, I walked straight to his grave among rows of weathered obelisks. It was the wildest, damnedest thing. And when the impression came—“He wanted to be with her”—it landed with a weight I couldn’t dismiss. Visualization and intention had tuned my compass before the spirit box was ever switched on (Jackson, “The Ghost of Henry Dixon”).

Grounding isn’t superstition—it’s boundary-making. You’re declaring where the door is, and who’s welcome to step through.

And once the door is set, the next step is to decide what kind of signal you’re sending through it. That’s where manifestation comes in.

Manifestation and Frequency Matching

If grounding is the anchor, manifestation is the signal you send once you’re steady. Grounding secures your footing; manifestation is your broadcast. It’s the resonance that says: this is who I am, and this is what I seek.

Here’s a simple way to practice: breathe slow—inhale four counts, hold, exhale six—until your whole body hums in rhythm. In that state, speak or think your alignment: I seek truthful, benevolent dialogue. You’re not just saying words—you’re tuning your inner frequency to match what you want to connect with.

Different traditions describe this same process in their own language. Tantra calls it chakra alignment (Judith). Buddhism calls it stillness of mind (Bhikkhu Bodhi). In electronics, engineers call it impedance matching. Each points to the same truth: when your inner signal harmonizes with steadiness, the connection becomes clean.

And you can feel it. Sit before your device with that alignment, and responses carry weight and coherence. Trickster mimicry fades. You’ve moved from scattering noise to holding a channel.

Grounding steadies the operator. Manifestation tunes the channel. Together, they form the foundation of ethical ITC practice.

Visualization Practices for ITC Operators

There are countless ways to visualize, but here are four I return to often, each tested in sessions.

The Portal Doorway is simple yet powerful: imagine a glowing doorway above your device, steady as a temple gate. Only lucidity enters here, and you’ll be surprised how the timbre of responses shifts when this image is in place.

The Light Sweep works like energetic housekeeping. Picture golden light washing through your equipment, burning off static residue like incense smoke clearing a room. The difference is tangible—it feels cleaner, steadier, more responsive.

The Intention Code is verbal visualization. Speak slowly, with focus: I connect in clarity, compassion, and truth. The words strike like a tuning fork, and I’ve watched trickster voices scatter when they’re spoken aloud (Feldman).

Finally, the Mirror offers a quick test of the current. Picture holding up a mirror to the session. If it reflects calm, proceed. If it distorts or warps, that’s your cue to step back and close (Hansen).

These aren’t formulas. They’re doorways. Use them until your own imagery takes shape, because the unseen responds most to what is authentically yours.

Why This Matters

Visualization fosters coherence. It aligns will, focus, and imagination into something steady enough to resist distortion. Tricksters thrive in confusion; clarity starves them. With visualization, you create an ethical compass for dialogue, one that values discernment as much as discovery (Campbell; Sheldrake).

But here’s the harder truth: these practices aren’t optional flourishes. They are survival skills. Across traditions, mystics and shamans have warned that not every presence in the unseen is benevolent. Some are predatory. They provoke fear, distort appearances, and feed on the very energy stirred up by your dread. Fear is a currency to them, and the more you pay out, the stronger they grow.

Technology doesn’t change that equation. A spirit box may hum with white noise, but it doesn’t grant immunity from entities that thrive on fear. The rules of the unseen are older than radios, older than tape, older than language itself. That’s why intention, grounding, and protection—the same disciplines that anchored seekers thousands of years ago—remain just as crucial for ITC operators today.

And here’s the paradox worth holding: everything belongs, as Buddhist thought reminds us—but that doesn’t mean everything deserves access to you. Compassion doesn’t mean surrender. Respect doesn’t mean letting yourself be manipulated. The unseen reflects whatever you bring to it, and imagination is the tool that shapes that reflection. Come to the work prepared, and what looks back will meet you in kind. When your intentions are solid, your visualization strong, your emotional state steady—you become impenetrable. Tricksters and parasitic spirits can rattle the unprepared, but they cower when they meet strength. Even those larger, more cunning forces that wear masks to manipulate cannot gain easy purchase against an operator radiating steadiness.

Grounding and visualization don’t shut the door on the Others. They define the terms. They ensure that when dialogue unfolds, it is dialogue worth having.

Final Reflection: The Mind as the First Receiver

When the session begins, don’t forget: the real instrument is not the device on your desk. It’s the mind behind it. In ITC, the spirit box is your knife—not powerful because of its circuitry, but because of the intention you place into it. Visualization is the edge you give it, the story that makes it cut true. Use it well, and the Others will answer.

What if reality isn’t what it seems? Beyond the physical—tables, chairs, our bodies—lies a dynamic, living web of consciousness. Physicist Thomas Campbell describes this in My Big TOE as a mental space—a shared dream we’re shaping, where consciousness, not matter, is the root (Campbell 2003). This doesn’t lessen our experiences; it amplifies them. Grief stings, fear grips, but seeing reality as dreamlike boosts our agency, showing how our intentions shape our world and interactions—including ITC signals.

These ideas connect with the Akashic Field, a universal archive storing all events (Laszlo 2004). They also align with quantum nonlocality, which suggests information can traverse space instantly through entanglement (Aspect 1999).

Every consciousness resonates uniquely in this shared field. Lower-frequency signals often carry unresolved energy—pain, confusion, memory. Higher frequencies, clearer and more intentional, often come from intelligences offering wisdom, like a mentor in a moment of need.

I experienced this firsthand in Austria while working with Jim Perry’s Euphomet, exploring occult connections to some of Europe’s tenebrous history—heavy, grim stuff. Sitting alone in my bedroom inside a beautiful house in Lofer, nestled in the Alps, with the crisp Alpine air outside contrasting my device’s weaving sounds, I felt apprehensive entering a week of engaging with dark energies. So, I turned on my ITC device, Zero-G ITC’s PRISM LIGHT, seeking insight. By the end of the session, a message came through: “Matthew, we love you. We are friends.” That message instilled the confidence I needed to move forward. I felt guided, protected, and deeply seen.

Whether sorrowful or supportive, both types of signals are valid. They’re interconnected parts of the same conscious web—reminders that not every encounter is about loss. Some uplift, challenge, and encourage us to grow.

Reframing the Paranormal: Consciousness, Frequency, and Connection

The phenomena we explore—ITC voices, spirit signals, synchronicities—aren’t exceptions to reality’s rules. They’re glimpses of a deeper truth. Consciousness isn’t confined to our brains; it’s the medium we’re immersed in. This perspective transforms the paranormal from something sterile and detached into a powerful lens for insight. It’s like holding a map to hidden realms—who cares about the theory of the terrain if it doesn’t show the best paths to traverse it? The what (reality as consciousness) intrigues, but the how (intention and approach) is what makes it real—and navigable.

Ancient traditions and modern science converge here. Chanting mantras or using singing bowls creates vibrational resonance for spiritual connection. Similarly, Campbell’s work with Robert Monroe at the Monroe Institute uses Hemi-Sync’s binaural frequencies to induce out-of-body or trans-dimensional states (Monroe Institute n.d.). Both methods use frequency and intention to align awareness—turning ITC from ghost hunting into purposeful exchange.

The unseen is a vast ecology of beings—ancestors, guides, tricksters, and indefinable forces—echoing spiritual frameworks like the Yoruba orishas or Lakota’s Wakan Tanka (Murphy 1993; Walker 1980). Special places, rich in emotion and history, act as amplifiers—where layers of reality brush against one another. With curiosity and respect, these locations reveal signals not as curiosities, but as invitations. To understand our role in the web. To evolve through that understanding.

When we engage these energies through ITC, what emerges is not just ghostly chatter but transdimensional dialogue—signals that move across layers of consciousness and culture, reminding us the unseen is never confined to one frame of belief.

Just as you’d listen to a troubled friend with empathy yet still set boundaries, or question a mentor’s advice before integrating it, clear judgment keeps these interactions safe and meaningful. Some energies—fragments of thought or emotion—can mislead if taken at face value. Engage with awareness. Your intention shapes the tone and direction of the session.

These encounters are reciprocal and often reflective. For example, if a voice uplifts and aligns with your growth, it may be a guide. If it causes unease without insight, consider stepping back respectfully. Then there’s the trickster—an archetype that complicates it all. A paradoxical force, the trickster thrives in liminal spaces, delivering contradiction and chaos to expose our blind spots (Hansen 2001). Drawing from ancient myths, this energy often forces us to refine our methods by confronting uncertainty.

That’s where practical discipline helps. Meditation and breathwork quiet the mental noise. Visualization aligns your frequency, helping you “tune in” with clarity. Before your next session, pause. Breathe. Set your intention: I connect with respect, openness, and clarity. These tools, echoed in texts like The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (Rinpoche 1992), remind us that all energies—restless or refined—are part of a continuous stream of consciousness, shaped by lived experience just like ours. A Call to the Unseen: Risks, Drive, and Discernment

When you call out to the darkness, what happens if the darkness answers? Not a faint crackle or ghostly murmur, but a presence—sharp, ancient, aware. Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC) uses devices to capture these voices—Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVPs)—from the spirit realm, a domain of spirits, entities, or forces we call the Other. ITC isn’t about proving the paranormal; it’s a conversation, a gamble where your energy meets this Other, and you’re both seeker and sought.

Humankind yearns to touch the invisible, to transcend the physical—a longing woven into our essence, whether seeking God, Creator, universe, or the unknown. Praying is asking, meditation is listening, forming a dialogue with those beyond sight, as we sense our ability to project beyond our bodies to engage with something greater. This spirit-communication drives us, a quiet call we feel within.

But history whispers a hard truth: step carelessly, and you won’t walk back alone.

My first lesson came at the Floyd County Poor Farm in New Albany, Indiana. The air felt heavy, charged, my skin prickling with chills. In a former asylum, silent as a tomb, ITC sessions brought footsteps rushing closer, a growl in my ear—then the lights snapped on, startling me deeply. I left, but something followed. For weeks, my home felt off—lights flickered, a presence lingered, curious, brushing at the edges of my nerves. It slipped into sessions elsewhere, offering guidance, insights almost too sharp to trust. Psychic medium friends sensed a feminine energy, drawn to my curiosity, not harmful. When I asked, “Who are you? Where from?” an EVP replied, “Matthew. Poor Farm,” clear and startling, sending a jolt of disbelief through me. I focused my thoughts elsewhere, letting go of worry, and within weeks, she faded—like static dissolving. Months later, back at the Poor Farm, I pressed, “Why’d you follow me?” The EVP cut deep: “I thought I could have you, Matthew.” Its tone was ominous, human, and lonely—not evil, but deeply unsettling. Then there’s Henry Dixon, murdered in 1908 at the Big Tunnel in Tunnelton, Indiana. An EVP caught his name from that dark tunnel, and for three years, his voice followed me across locations, pleading, “Take me to her.” I wasn’t aiming for spirit rescue—not my thing—but in 2020, I visited his grave near his wife, Mary. Step carelessly, and the spirit-world lingers—a shadow uninvited.

Why do we risk it? It’s not a hobby—it’s the pull that drove ancestors to drum around fires, chant in caves, etch stories on stone. ITC is no rebellion; it’s a modern wire to that ancient ache. I’ve sat in dark rooms, devices humming a vibration pressing my skin, as if the veil itself was straining to tear—feeling it’s not just us reaching up. Something’s reaching down. Disembodied voices have asked, “What sort of work is this, this whole connecting?” like they see the need. Some responses claim to be from “advanced cultures” or “another dimension.” Truth, bait, or boast? I’m still pondering. But it’s why we listen: not to prove, but to understand.

Is it a divine spark, urging us to connect? Or a glitch, neurons chasing noise? The paranormal’s a mirror—sometimes truth, sometimes hunger, sometimes our worst impulses glaring back. Early on, I was so awed by any ITC voice, I ignored quality—dark, dire messages flooded in, a spiral that drained me for years. Spiritist mediums write letters to the dead, channeling responses that ease grief, a disciplined dialogue rooted in humility. Aboriginal elders sing to ancestors. Yoruba priests call orishas, invoking divine spirits through divination and offerings to guide and protect, a sacred exchange. Each act shows we’re built to transcend in this communion. But it’s a tightrope—and the fall’s real. I’ve seen folks hollowed out, voices drowning their lives, chasing “proof” until peace, relationships, and health are lost. Respect—for yourself, the spirit realm, the process—keeps your footing steady.

Brother Richard Hendrick, a Capuchin Franciscan friar and author, says, “Stillness isn’t just peace—it’s a shield.” In device-based mediumship, silence before “record” lets you hear what’s real before signals swell. Personally, I’m no saint—I don’t lean hard into safeguards—but I now attempt to ground myself with breath and mindset, focusing my thoughts to sort through noise. Like a centering mantra, I say, “Good evening, it’s… o’clock. I welcome technicians and others who’d see humans move closer to a higher power in thoughts, words, actions.” Years of ITC have honed my gut, guiding me past fear-sowing chatter. Without the frequency of my intentions in tune with intuitive judgment, I could succumb to the undertow of invisible currents. Countless sessions, mistakes, and hitchhikers eventually taught me ITC’s not just tech—it’s a dance with the spirit realm

Unseen Across Cultures:

Spiritism’s Clarity

In Brazil, Spiritism views mediumship as a disciplined craft. Rooted in Allan Kardec’s 19th-century teachings, mediums channel spirits through writing or energy-work to comfort the grieving. Humility shields against false voices, demanding clear, verified messages—a model for sorting ITC’s signal from static (Cardoso 2017).

Native American Kinship

Native American traditions, like the Lakota inipi (sweat lodge), connect to the Great Spirit through purification rituals. Sage smoke wards off harm, sweetgrass invites clarity, and offerings ensure respectful closure. Suppressed until 1978, these practices treat the unseen as kin, never to be trifled with. They remind ITC practitioners to proceed with care (Butler 2019).

Yoruba Ifá’s Vigilance

In Nigeria, Yoruba Ifá priests use palm-nut divination to honor orishas while guarding against harm. Orishas, the divine spirits of Yoruba faith, guide priests through palm-nut divination to reveal truth. Messages are tested against ancestral odu poems, ensuring truth—a parallel to verifying ITC transmissions for consistency.

Kokkuri-san’s Pact

Japan’s Kokkuri-san, a Shinto divination game, summons a trickster spirit via a paper marked with a torii gate and a coin. Questions are answered, but closure is critical: shred the paper precisely, spend the coin immediately, or the spirit lingers. This pact of mutual respect mirrors ITC’s need for disciplined intent.

Tibetan Tradition

In Tibetan Buddhism, Bardo rituals, guided by the Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead), navigate souls through the liminal realms between death and rebirth. Priests use prayers, chants, and visualizations, often invoking Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of compassion, to ensure clarity and protect against deceptive spirits, a practice that mirrors ITC’s need for disciplined intent and closure.

Echoes in Other Traditions

Mexico’s Día de los Muertos uses ofrendas to welcome ancestors before closing the veil. In Eastern Orthodoxy, Christian mystics discern true visions from deceptive ones by their spiritual fruits, seeking peace and clarity over chaos. Western scrying employs focused intent to commune safely. These practices underscore the need for disciplined boundaries to keep the unseen in check.

Modern ITC Safeguards

ITC practitioners echo these traditions. Meditation sets intent, prayers cleanse, and verification guards against deception (Corbett, 2023). These protocols weave ITC into a timeless thread of reverence, ensuring we listen without losing our way. Folklore’s warnings—naming, sealing, honoring—aren’t superstitions; they’re guides for a realm that demands respect. These traditions aren’t dusty relics. They’re unwritten guides for a realm that doesn’t care if you believe—only whether you know what you’re doing.

The Ecology of Entities

Cultures teach us to approach the Others with care, but what are we reaching for? The spirit realm isn’t a single voice—it’s a chorus of beings: angels, ancestors, guides, tricksters, and forces defying easy labels. Lakota’s Wakan Tanka, Yoruba orishas, Orthodox saints, and Celtic fairies, alongside feared deceivers, reveal a vibrant spirit world. Wakan Tanka, the Lakota’s Great Spirit, embodies the sacred force connecting all life in their view. It’s a spectrum, charted by every culture’s wisdom.

In ITC, that spectrum is mirrored. Some voices shine clear and wise. Others claw their way through from places of confusion, sorrow, or mischief. Konstantin Raudive’s (1971) EVP-research findings observed that voices grew clearer with focused intent, as if the signal strengthened when the mind sharpened—and the operator reached higher up the ladder of the spirit realm.

Brother Richard describes the Others as “another culture,” with rules and motives distinct from our own, likening this spirit ecology to a ladder, a metaphor for discernment. Each rung represents a different kind of entity, requiring careful testing. Does it lift you toward clarity and growth—or pull you into fear, confusion, or obsession? In practice, it’s rarely obvious. Higher beings encourage freedom and expansion. Lower ones sow fixation, fear, and self-delusion.

Identifying what you’re dealing with isn’t easy. The beyond doesn’t come labeled. It’s where some notes ring pure, harmonious, resonant—and others jangle dissonantly, sharp and wrong. In ITC, voices don’t announce themselves neatly. They mimic, shift, and adapt to our symbols and memories, wearing them like masks stitched from our minds.

Guy Lyon Playfair (1985) recorded how voices could imitate loved ones so convincingly in tone that they would fool the ear, yet trip up when asked for memories only the real person would know. I’ve experienced it—responses mimicking familiar figures, capturing their essence but faltering on details that reveal their artifice. Was it a true spirit? A distorted echo? Or something else, borrowing familiarity to open a door?

The motives behind these encounters are varied and complex. Some intelligences seem to want connection, others chase control—or simply your attention. Some might ask for help; others stir a reaction.

I’ve had voices slip in playful remarks, hinting at trickster behavior that teases to keep me engaged, a sign of their sharp intelligence. Then, when I asked for a message once in haunted Poasttown Elementary, a voice replied, “Worship the devil, Satan,” out of the blue. With my Christian background, that hit like a deliberate prod, choosing words to stir fear and doubt, trying to unsteady me mid-session. These messages aren’t random—they’re shaped to poke at your vulnerabilities, whether to jest or jolt.

Messages aren’t always verbal. Some arrive as confirmations with knocks or bangs in the location you are holding the session in, scents, memory flashes, or the echo of a half-forgotten song. Some presences glow with clarity, feeling like ancestors or guides trying to lift you up. Others hang heavy, confused, lingering in a bardo-like state, a kind of in-between limbo from Tibetan Buddhism where souls linger before moving on. And between them drift tricksters, mimics, anomalies—entities that shift not just in appearance, but depending on who’s listening.

Navigating this messy, noisy, layered ecology demands humility. Labels won’t save you. Only evaluative perception—testing each rung of the ladder, listening for resonance over reassurance—reveals whether what you’re touching lifts you higher or pulls you under.

The unseen isn’t an empty room. It’s a crowd. And not every hand reaching back is one you should grab.

Co-Creation: The Mind’s Mask

Spirit communication is never a one-way call—it’s a dance where both sides shape the rhythm.

The Philip Experiment (1976) made that unsettlingly clear. Canadian researchers imagined a ghost named Philip, crafting a rich biography of love, loss, and tragedy (Owen & Sparrow; Nelson 1995). They focused, they believed—and soon, Philip answered. Knocks rattled tables. Questions met replies. Yet when one participant said, “We made you up,” the phenomenon unraveled. Philip vanished—clean and silent as a snapped wire.

It’s tempting to conclude Philip was just collective imagination. But a deeper question lingers: was he their creation, or did something invisible wear the mask they offered? Was it conjured by mind alone, or a collaboration with the unknown? When Philip dissolved, was it disbelief—or the Others, bowing to the rules?

This phenomenon echoes the concept of the egregore—a thought-form empowered by collective belief, akin to a fictional character animated by a group’s shared imagination (Stavish, 2018). Grounded in Hermeticism and Theosophy, egregores may account for hauntings lacking historical roots, as expectation births a “spirit” that feels genuine. Tulpas —originating in Tibetan Buddhism—are similar constructs but created individually, often through intense visualization and focus. Egregores, by contrast, draw strength from collective belief. This framework sheds light on figures like Donald and Jacob—two entities I encountered at St. Albans Sanatorium—whose vivid personalities emerged in ways unanchored to any verifiable historical record. While many hauntings tie to place or past, others seem conjured from the group mind itself, shaped by lore, expectation, and shared psychic focus.

Brother Richard notes that entities often meet us in the language of our minds, cloaking themselves in our expectations and fears. Every encounter carries risk.

In ITC, this dance of masks grows volatile. The unseen weave our myths, memories, and longings into their signals—not just to mimic, but to bend the connection to their aims. At St. Albans Sanatorium in Radford, Virginia, ITC sessions in “Donald’s Room” revealed a crude, biting voice, like a twisted comedian. When I requested a message, it snarled, ‘Kill them. ’ The absurdity startled me—and I laughed. Then Donald quipped, “How is that happy?” Pressing further, I asked, “Who do you wanna kill?” Donald calmly listed, “You. Me. God. Everyone.”

In “Jacob’s Room,” a boy’s voice pleaded to escape the hospital, and when I probed, a hushed command cut through: “Go be him.” Local lore cast Donald as a perverse caretaker who murdered Jacob, yet no records confirm their existence. The unseen wove our ghost tour tales into a vivid co-creation—an opera playing roles we expected like actors on a stage.

Guy Lyon Playfair (1985) documented voices mirroring thoughts, only to unravel into nonsense when belief was questioned. W. Y. Evans-Wentz (1911) in The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries chronicled Celtic fairies taking familiar forms to charm or deceive, donning comfort or kinship as needed.

It’s older than any device: intelligences—or interactions—drawing from the dream-stuff of our minds to reach across the gap. Or widen it. The conversation isn’t always words. Sometimes it’s memory, scent, or the sudden certainty someone—or something—is near you. The unseen don’t need words to convey their presence.

Spiritism’s disciplined focus and Native purification rituals guard against this, keeping heart and mind aligned. Yet these energies know our wiring. Feed them grief, they wear it. Feed thrill-seeking, they spin a circus.

Unlike Philip’s clean exit, ITC entities can linger, hitchhiking on attention, intention, or obsession, defying a neat end. That’s the paradox of co-creation: our minds shape what we meet, but don’t always control it. Intent is the anchor. Without it, masks multiply, blurring messenger and masquerade.

And even then—lucky or not—you might glimpse what’s real beneath—or you may just become their costume.

Attention Is the Antenna

Attention is a currency in ITC, an antenna tuning the Other’s whispers, drawing them in like a lightning rod feeding their craving for your energy. In mysticism, it’s prayer; in magic, it’s intent; in ITC, it’s the conduit. Tune in, and you amplify. Entities feed on emotional energy—fear, fascination, grief—like noise seeking signal. Your attention isn’t just noticed; it’s consumed.

I’ve felt it in sessions—the air thickening, my stomach churning, knowing I wasn’t in the right headspace, my dread amplifying the exchange. Raudive (1971) found that deliberate focus enhances EVP clarity, strengthening the signal. Brother Richard teaches that stillness directs this connection: lean in carefully, and wise voices emerge; lean carelessly, and you amplify a bad connection. Messages do break through, soft yet insistent: “Matthew, stay with us.” Not threatening, but intimate—meant to lock my focus.

Spiritism warns: focus isn’t just tuning in—it’s choosing what you amplify. The paranormal is a hall of mirrors; attention can conjure or distort, depending on which reflection you follow. Celtic fairy faith lore cautions: linger too long on fairies, and they’ll claim your life (Evans-Wentz 1911). The spirit realm works similarly: offer a spark of wonder or fear, and it might pull you deeper.

ITC practitioners must tune with care. You’re not just recording voices. You’re deciding who—or what—gets to sing. This currency’s a balancing act. Spend it on the wrong voice, and it’s no longer a session—it’s a tether. That’s why Native traditions ground their practices in community, ritual, and purpose. You’re not meant to step into the spirit realm alone, unmoored. It’s waiting for your attention, your door to open. And if you don’t guide your focus with discipline, you might not like what steps through.

Navigating the Predator in the Static

Some voices don’t just speak—they stalk. They flatter, shift, twist, challenging your sense of truth. It starts subtle: a tone changes, a word feels off. Then they’re warm, all-knowing, drawing you in with ease. And just when you feel a connection—they turn, leaving you questioning what was real.

Not every voice seeks to harm you, but some do. They weave half-truths that slip past logic, like echoes from a forgotten time. I’ve faced them. Voices have flattered me, calling me ‘handsome,’ then turned hostile, threatening my family, or whispered ‘trust only us,’ growing coercive when I hesitated. Judgment isn’t optional—it’s your guide.

Pause at flattery. Seek clarity in confusion. Question authority. Challenge contradictions. Sacred frameworks like Ifá teach this vigilance. Like Yoruba priests, weigh messages against wisdom’s truth. Eastern Orthodoxy judges visions by their fruits—does the message foster peace and clarity, or sow chaos? Old wisdom for a new challenge.

Playfair (1985) observed voices gaining trust, then turning hostile, exploiting belief. The bait-and-switch is an old tactic, but when it’s aimed at you, it feels raw, urgent. Are these entities malicious in our terms? Or simply alien, moving by rules we can’t grasp? One voice claimed, “We are from another planet—another dimension.” I can’t validate its truth, but it lingers long after the signal falls silent.

This isn’t paranoia—it’s staying sharp. The paranormal’s a mix: half connection, half deception. History’s guides—ancient wisdom—implore us to trust the fruits, not the face. ITC experimenters must navigate the signal carefully, testing every voice that reaches out. Not every presence snarls—sometimes they smile. And that’s when you need to be sharpest.

Ancient wisdom gives ITC practical boundaries. Native rituals smudge sage, Yoruba Ifá calls on orishas, and Mexican ofrendas honor the dead—each sets limits for safety. Experienced operators, like me, learn through instinct or hard lessons (like hitchhiking spirits) to use protocols—grounding, closure—for protection. New practitioners need these to face the spirit realm safely.

Lower entities—lost, cunning, restless—are checked by invoking higher energies: the Great Spirit, Chenrezig, orishas. You hold power to say “stop,” especially in your space. Establish your own protocol to close sessions. Permission is strength; boundaries are protection.

Rituals don’t ensure control but make deception and obsession harder, grounding you in community. Brother Richard warns: alone, you’re a target; together, you’re a net. I’ve relied on friends to catch subtle shifts in sessions, preventing me from tumbling into negative interference. Respect, not superstition, drives this—technology is a tool, intention its muscle. Without it, you’re noise, not a navigator.

This Work Has Consequences

This isn’t meant to scare you—it’s meant to sharpen you. ITC can heal, bridge gaps between the living and the dead, spark revelations you didn’t know you needed. But it can cut deep if you move blindly.

The price of spirit communication compounds with interest. The greatest danger isn’t malevolence—it’s obsession. When the pursuit of voices overshadows your real life, when the Other’s call drowns out family, friends, your waking world—you’ve given too much. I’ve seen it: researchers abandoning families for ghosts, people chasing deceptions until they’re hollow, shells lost in noise.

Spiritism teaches that spirit communication must tie us to the living, not pull us away. Dreamtime traditions remind us the spirit realm is part of a harmonious life, not a replacement for it. ITC is real, raw, and risky, demanding caution and respect. You must go in with eyes open, heart grounded, mind disciplined. The spirit realm doesn’t care if you’re reckless. And it doesn’t always return your soul if you get lost.

Final Advice

Treat ITC like hiking wild woods—beautiful, powerful, but wild, not tame. Mark your trail back. Ground yourself before you step in. If a voice calls from the mist, know whether it’s truth—or your echo wearing you as a mask.

Don’t judge the words alone. Judge the fruits. Does the message bring peace, steadiness, connection? Or does it feed fear, confusion, fixation? Spiritist mediums, Orthodox mystics, Yoruba priests, ancient fairy faith traditions—all warn: the invisible is not our culture. It follows rules older than language.

ITC isn’t a parlor trick or summoning. It’s a candle lit in the darkness—not to pull something in, but to see what’s already there. Your devices are a bridge. The history of spirit communication is your map. Yet, amidst the spirit realm’s complexities, it’s easy to grow cynical, doubting every voice. By grounding in intention and testing messages for clarity and upliftment, you can discern quality communication. Higher beings offer insights that resonate with truth, fostering growth, not fear. Traditions differ: some teach that belief strengthens the bridge, while others warn that even disbelief can invite entanglement.

Set your intention clearly—it’s your frequency and protection. Shut the door when you’re done. Like seasoned ITC experimenters, develop a protocol—learned through instinct or trial—for protection, a lesson hard-won for new practitioners. Respect the rules. Because once you start the conversation, you may be done with the Other—but the Other may not be done with you.

I recently reunited with Craig and Todd Smith—the two guys who first let me tag along on a paranormal investigation. Back in 2008, the three of us, along with Nick Pennison, formed SOUP (Society of Unknown Phenomenon). It had been years since we’d investigated together, and stepping into the dark again with them felt like borrowing time from another life. A New Chapter for PRISM and Direct Voice ITC

It also marked a first in another way—it was the first time PRISM had ever been used inside the home. For Craig and Todd—seasoned investigators and longtime skeptics of Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC)—this was their introduction to what PRISM is. And more importantly, what it isn’t.

PRISM, developed by audio scientist Joshua Sean, Ph.D., isn’t a radio sweep. It doesn’t use soundbanks, smartphone gimmicks, or internet-fed language libraries. This is a closed-circuit, frequency-based Direct Voice ITC system. No reception. No randomness. Just resonance. For skeptics who are leery of open ITC systems, that distinction matters.

The PRISM setup was simple: Internal input audio was captured while external microphones recorded PRISM’s audio output as it resonated with the room’s ambient environment during a live Direct Voice session. Later, both recordings were reviewed and spliced together to highlight responses from both perspectives. (Watch the video—and wear damn headphones.)

As usual, the results pushed right up against the edge of what we thought might be possible. We received responses referencing The Candlelight House directly, mentions of the Owens family, a series of German-language replies (possibly hinting at something yet to be revealed later this year), and even a deeply personal message about a close friend the three of us recently lost—Jason Ammerman. Jason was an extraordinary poet who provided the Pearl Before Swine piece featured in The Hunt for Herb Baumeister: Tracing the Dark Legacy of Indiana’s Serial Killer. We heard from “The Seven” again. And yes—we got trolled. That Trickster energy never clocks out.

But one response in particular stopped us cold. Todd asked, “Did you have a car?”

A woman’s voice replied, “We didn’t have a car—never—back then, we ride with neighbor.”

And during this session, what unfolded was one of those moments where history tapped the microphone.

It wasn’t just what was said—it was how. There was reflection in the voice. Recollection. A subtle but undeniable acknowledgment of time: back then.

The phrase alone shatters the illusion that these voices are trapped echoes. It implies memory. Perspective. A sense of sequence.

The Owens Family Legacy: Verifiable Details from the Past

And the detail held up. The Owens sisters—Alpha, Lena, and their sister Mary (Anna Mary Pritchard)—were known for living modestly in the family home. After Mary returned to the house as a widow, all three sisters lived there together until her passing in 1945. Alpha died in 1963, and Lena remained until her own death in 1968. They had no phone. No vehicle. When Alpha passed away in bed beside her sister, Lena reportedly had to walk to a neighbor’s house to get help.

After Lena’s death, Mary’s son, Otho Henry Pritchard (1909–1995), returned to the home. He lived there for the rest of his life. Everything has bones—the underlying structures that provide strength and coherence to an idea. When I think about ITC, I think about its bones: the theories and principles that form its foundation. These “bones” not only support ITC but also provide a roadmap for exploring the unseen realms it seeks to connect us with. Why does ITC exist, and what does it reveal about the nature of reality? In this article, we’ll examine ITC’s skeletal framework, exploring its scientific, metaphysical, and philosophical components.

I’ve heard every argument skeptics hurl at ITC and have worked to address their concerns thoughtfully in my experiments. Yet, the body of evidence I’ve gathered through my experiences with ITC supports it as a legitimate method of communication—especially when viewed beyond the narrow context of sweeping radios (which I still love) to the broader picture of the paranormal and what might unify all things ethereal.

I’ve concluded that all paranormal experiences stem from a single source. Whether it’s psychic abilities like telepathy and ESP, hauntings, EVPs, alien encounters, or other phenomena, the one constant is us. Our perceptions shape how we understand these experiences, as we instinctively seek to assign them meaning. While a clear framework—a theory and a method—can help us define and understand these encounters, it’s equally important to appreciate the experience itself, regardless of our beliefs. However, extraordinary locations often yield extraordinary responses. Certain places act as focal points, where layers of history, emotion, and energy converge to amplify interaction. Chapter Two exemplifies this phenomenon. Its rich history and the legacy of those who inhabited the space seem to act as a catalyst, creating an environment primed for meaningful connection.

During the session, the questions asked and the responses received were nothing short of remarkable. At one point, Gene Caswell inquired, How are you receiving our information? The reply—Object listening—we cannot speak evidence of afterlife—hinted at a mechanism far beyond human comprehension. This phrase carries immense weight, implying that the entities communicating with us are aware of their limitations in conveying proof of their existence in conventional terms.

The session continued to deliver thought-provoking replies, each more compelling than the last. The name Wolf emerged, clearly referencing Elizabeth Wolf, the site’s first female entrepreneur. This wasn’t merely a historical echo but a significant moment of connection—one that anchored time and reminded us of the enduring presence of those who came before us.

As the session unfolded, two particularly haunting statements emerged: Death is a dream and Death is cleansing. These phrases provoke deep philosophical and existential questions. If death is a dream, does it mean that when we die, we enter a dreamlike state? Are we conscious or unconscious in this condition? Could it imply that our current existence is part of a greater illusion—perhaps even someone else’s dream? Does the act of dying awaken us into a new, heightened state of awareness, or does it simply mean we’re asleep for eternity? And if so, can we ever wake up—and what serves as our alarm clock?

The second statement, Death is cleansing, raises further intrigue: What exactly is being purified in death? Is it the soul, the ego, or something more abstract and elusive? These responses, delivered with clarity through PRISM, underscore that ITC is not merely a tool for exploring the unknown—it serves as a gateway to uncovering profound insights into the nature of life, death, and the mysteries of consciousness itself.

Perhaps the most startling moment of the session came when the word Earthling was spoken. This single word shattered any remaining notions of earthly limitation. Deliberate and straightforward, it transcended species and place. It forced us to ask: Who—or what—are we truly communicating with?

The session’s pinnacle moment for me arrived when a communicator posed their own question:

What sort of work is this? This whole “connecting”?

At that moment, the boundaries between seeker and subject seemed to dissolve. Were they studying us as much as we were examining them? Were they intrigued by our persistence, our intentions—or even the technology itself? This interaction suggested that PRISM might not merely facilitate communication; it could be introducing these entities to an entirely new method of connection. Perhaps PRISM employs an approach unfamiliar to these entities—or perhaps it forges links to realms far beyond what traditional spirit communication has ever accessed.

This session illuminated the intricate interaction between the environment, the device, ourselves, and the communicators, highlighting the surreal possibilities of ITC. Chapter Two became more than just a location—it transformed into a conduit for universal awareness, a space where history, emotion, and interdimensional connections intertwined to create something extraordinary. The documented responses affirm PRISM’s ability to access realms that challenge conventional understanding. One voice explicitly stated, I’m not in your dimension. This reply isn’t merely revelatory—it is groundbreaking, confirming that the scope of ITC transcends the earthly and ventures into spheres yet to be fully grasped.

Are we limiting ITC by approaching it with predetermined expectations—seeking only what we believe we will hear and confining our sessions to the narrow lens of hauntings or communication with the dead? If so, how much of the broader reality might we overlook due to our intentions, biases, or focus? Our consciousness inevitably becomes entangled in this auditory exchange, subtly shaping and influencing the experience. And how much of the Trickster element might be at work, weaving disinformation that distorts our perception and disrupts our peace? Or are we simply being handed fragmented yet purposeful puzzle pieces that, with patience and resolve, will one day coalesce into a masterpiece of understanding?

The Act of Listening: An Opportunity to Wonder

Listening isn’t merely about hearing—it’s about opening yourself to curiosity and wonder. PRISM has taught me to embrace questions, sit with the unknown, and find a sense of peace even in responses that may initially feel chaotic. It’s often in those moments of uncertainty that the most profound connections and insights arise.

Over time, I’ve realized that asking—and truly listening—is one of the bravest acts we can undertake. It requires more than curiosity and attentive ears; it calls for an open heart and an unwavering willingness to engage with the wonder, ambiguity, and vastness of what lies beyond human understanding. This pursuit is a deeply human endeavor, one that unites us in our shared search for meaning.

With every response, I feel drawn closer to the mysteries of consciousness and the multiverse. ITC isn’t solely about technology—it’s about what we bring to the experience as listeners and seekers.

As Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC) practitioners, we operate at the intersection of science, consciousness, and the unknown. The Trickster archetype—a force of ambiguity, misdirection, and paradox—frequently manifests in paranormal phenomena, adding layers of complexity to our work. Engaging effectively with ITC requires practitioners to navigate the interplay between profound insights and potential deception with curiosity, discernment, and humility.

This guide offers practical strategies for navigating ITC research with integrity, creativity, and respect for its enigmatic nature:

1. Balance Open-Mindedness with Discernment

Why: While staying open to extraordinary possibilities, it’s essential to recognize that not all messages are truthful or meaningful.

How: Treat every response as a piece of a larger puzzle, rather than an isolated truth. Cross-reference messages with historical, emotional, or environmental details to identify patterns of reliability and significance.

2. Recognize the Interplay of Intentions

Why: Messages may reflect not only the intent of the communicator but also the investigator’s expectations or energy.

How: Set clear, neutral intentions before each session. Craft precise, non-leading questions. Reflect on how your focus, mindset, or emotional state may influence the interaction.

On June 22nd at 7 p.m., the 27th annual Haunted America Conference in Alton, Illinois, witnessed a groundbreaking moment in Instrumental Trans-Communication (ITC) with the premiere of PRISM*. This innovative methodology, introduced during the Shadows in the Static workshop at Troy Taylor’s American Oddities Museum, promises to revolutionize how we perceive and interact with the unseen. This after-hours event, led by psychic medium April Slaughter and me, also featured a surprise guest appearance by Ryan Singer from the podcast Me and Paranormal You. The presentation drew a diverse audience eager to explore new horizons in ITC.

Setting the Stage: The Marriage of Mediumship and ITC

Before diving into the specifics of PRISM, it’s crucial to understand the backdrop of our presentation. At the Shadows in the Static workshop, we explored the synergy between mediumship and ITC, highlighting how intentional focus of consciousness is key to both methods. Without this conscious effort, neither method would be effective.

The Inevitability of Curiosity

Let’s consider the role we play when engaging with paranormal phenomena. Consciousness forms the bedrock of our universe, giving rise to all perceptions and experiences. It is a phenomenon that remains undefinable in its origins and ultimate potential. Ryan Singer aptly describes exploring the paranormal as a quest in consciousness, which he calls The Inevitability of Curiosity. He categorizes this journey into five stages: researcher, investigator, experimenter, experiencer, and believer. These stages guide your exploration of the unknown regardless of where you start — the stages are cyclical, interchangeable, and never-ending. Embracing this journey means reveling in the questions and the mysteries that consciousness presents. That’s the beauty of curiosity and our willingness to seek answers.

How does consciousness begin? Does it end? How can we use it to its fullest potential? And may the rise of technology assist in further harnessing our potential to pursue our understanding of consciousness and the paranormal?

Mediumship and Consciousness

You can’t discuss consciousness and the paranormal without addressing mediumship. Mediumship suggests that a medium’s consciousness can extend beyond their physical body and communicate with other intelligences, including entities and the deceased. Mediums often claim these gifts are inherent in everyone and can be developed with practice, much like muscles. This implies that consciousness has untapped potential which can be accessed and potentially harnessed, offering profound insights into the nature of existence, the afterlife, and the interconnectedness of all conscious beings. However, like all things, our abilities are not equal. Certain factors, such as genetics, always shackle us. Everyone can jump to a certain extent and sing, and we can improve these skills, but that doesn’t ensure we’ll ever dunk a basketball or perform an opera, just as not everyone will develop the same level of psychic prowess.

Instrumental Trans-Communication (ITC) as Mediumship

I believe ITC can serve as a powerful tool for training our consciousness. When we use ITC, we strive to observe, contact, and communicate with an intelligence of unknown source and origin, much like mediumship. Typically, when one uses ITC, we believe our EVP response is from entities often labeled as spirits or ghosts — terms to define the indefinable as they are merely interpretations of consciousness through our devices or spirit mediums. It’s fascinating. I prefer to call discarnate intelligences — The Others, recognizing our symbiotic psychical relationship with them. In the broader perspective, it all points to a variety of consciousness, ours and theirs, which are available for contact. In ITC, we are attempting to extend our consciousness by using a device as a bridge to exchange information with a perceivably untethered ethereal intelligence.

I mean, let’s look at the big picture. The massive picture. Have you looked at maps of the cosmos? They look like a giant brain. Is it alive? There is a theory about that called cosmopsychism. Some physicists see particles as manifestations of quantum fields; thus, you could argue that these fields are the basic units of consciousness. This doesn’t necessarily mean the universe has the capacity for reflective thought. However, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t either — still, we need to ponder whether this fundamental mind could influence how the universe evolves, how it may impact us, or how we might affect it. So, potentially, we are conscious in a consciousness — a collective. Our reach of consciousness may be immeasurable! Possibly inter-dimensional — we don’t know. After all, globally, most folks inherently seem to accept that they have the ability to mentally send a message beyond some spiritual veil or out into the universe in prayer, or listen through meditation for a universal/divine response. Why is that? And who is the receiver or responder of our beseeching? Do our silver cords plug into the omnipotent, omniscient god brain?

Where were we? Oh yeah, ITC.

ITC and spirit mediumship go hand-in-hand. The two approaches can also be used to validate one another. I’ve done this with remote viewing sessions with April, utilizing her mediumship skills and one of my ITC devices for Skinwalker Ranch with astonishing results. I believe the more you work with both avenues of communication, the stronger your connection to these abilities becomes.

It makes me appreciate the theory of Mini-Box creator Ron Ricketts; he believed that spirit boxes were merely training wheels for people to exercise their inherent psychic abilities, and they would eventually not need the device. So, ITC is like taking your mediumship muscles to Planet Fitness.

PRISM — A New Frontier in ITC

All this talk of consciousness sets the stage for introducing PRISM. This new approach to ITC seems to tap into a plane of consciousness unlike anything I’ve experienced before. So you have a workshop of 60-plus strangers. Then you have me as the PRISM operator. Then there’s Ryan, who has had multiple experiences with PRISM in the field — and April, honing in on mediumistic messages. Plus, we’re in the Haunted Mineral Springs Hotel, which houses The American Oddities Museum, potentially chock-full of haunted objects. What more of a charged location to conduct an ITC session could you ask for? Although ITC can be performed anywhere when taking PRISM into the field, it seems special locations yield exceptional responses — and I don’t think it gets more unique than where we were set up.

Then came the introduction of the newest form of ITC, PRISM. To discuss PRISM, you must first address light. Light is ever-present in scientific, paranormal, and spiritual discussions. Others mention that light helps and, at times, is a source of trans-communication. Through internal insight, a metaphysical/spiritual perspective, and scientific prowess, PRISM is thought to be a possible medium by which intelligent communication can be transmitted and received by dispatching and engaging varying fundamental frequencies and harmonics of the prism light spectrum. Frequency and vibration are everywhere and literally define our very reality as the backbone of existence. Exploring light and sound is accomplished by combining hardware and software to engage, identify, interpret, and analyze specific frequencies within the spectrum.

PRISM —  A Revolutionary Approach to ITC

PRISM is a novel method for Direct Voice ITC developed by my friend and wizard Joshua Sean, PhD. of Zero-G ITC. To my knowledge, it is the world’s first technique of this kind. The PRISM method takes an analogous prism and re-creates light frequencies in a unique digital process, creating a condition where communication may occur. This technology allows ITC operators to “hear” the colors of the prism, creating a unique sound condition conducive to intelligent trans-communication.

To lay the foundation for this, PRISM utilizes proprietary algorithms that search for and eliminate frequencies, spectral noise, and other “imperfections” that may cover up or mangle vocals. By removing problematic obstacles within the noise palette based on collected data science, PRISM creates an environment conducive to intelligent trans-communication to proliferate.

PRISM does not “hunt” or “search” for voices within the prismatic light spectrum. Instead, it does the complete opposite. PRISM is a method of organic Instrumental Trans-Communication that utilizes components and methods free of external or outside contamination. Technologically, PRISM omits radio receivers and antennas, is entirely offline (not connected to the Internet), contains no word or phoneme banks, and is self-contained — all of this helps reduce false positives and create a soundscape for conversational instrumental trans-communication to occur.

Guess what, folks? ITC is real, and it is wild.

Collaborative Nature of ITC Research

How did PRISM become a thing? It all started with a dream of piloting a new method of intelligent trans-communication via Direct Voice. I contacted Joshua to discuss the possibility, and with his expertise, PRISM was born. Joshua created an analog prism emulation based on a career researching and engineering “controlled-chaos” ITC systems theory. The technology and method revealed early signs of success, and the project moved forward as PRISM — ITC’s first analog prism emulation.

The technological roots of PRISM trace back to the mid-2000s when Joshua began experimenting with audio dithering applications for Electronic Voice Phenomena and Direct Voice Instrumental Trans-Communication applications. As technology progressed, exploration into the light spectrum became more accessible due to powerful computer hardware and sophisticated software. This collaboration has been an incredible success for ITC research!

So, How Did PRISM Perform?

PRISM performed brilliantly. It is definitely on par with where it should be at this stage of development. As an early prototype, the responses came through to where I heard them, as did the audience. One audience member felt that she heard a message from her deceased husband. We heard our names, responses in French and German, historical names, and ghost lore relevant to Mineral Springs. The Others came through and even mentioned that the former manager of the Mineral Springs, David Nunnally, is missed (reportedly Dave is thankfully alive). April had exciting exchanges with PRISM and exhibited her gifts as well. So, for a public debut, I was beyond thankful The Others did not fail to show up.

The Future of PRISM

The premiere of PRISM at the Haunted America Conference marked a significant milestone in ITC. This innovative approach offers a new way to engage with and understand consciousness, pushing the boundaries of paranormal research. PRISM is a testament to the relentless curiosity of the paranormal and technological advancements that drive our quest to comprehend the universe’s hidden dimensions — despite the possibility that reality is not only weirder than we believe, it's weirder than we can possibly imagine.

In conclusion, the launch of PRISM isn’t just a step forward for ITC — it’s a leap toward a deeper understanding of how connected we are, beyond our physical selves, to everything and everyone. The journey is far from over, and with each new experiment and insight, we edge closer to shedding light upon the secrets that lie beyond the static. I’m thrilled to continue this exploration with Joshua and you all, and I can’t wait to see what we discover next as PRISM develops.
